Ride of The Boids
A downloadable Simulation for Windows
This is an interactive simulation with a bit of Wagner and explosions thrown into the mix. The main goal is to showcase going in and out of flock-behavior. On the code side of things, it utilizes a compute-shader for some of the Boid-behavior calculations.
This project is part of a wider learning process and is largely based on this awesome tutorial by Sebastian Lague (https://bit.ly/2WLRoCh). I highly recommend you visit his YouTube channel as his work is fantastic and there is tons to learn!
All feedback is welcomed and much appreciated!
CONTROLS
Simulation Controls
SPACE - Start the simulation (or just let it begin on its own...)
P - Pause the simulation
R - Let the Boids return home and go on a new Ride!
T - Terminate the simulation and return to the main-title screen
ESC - Exit application
Camera Controls
Q - Rotate clockwise
E - Rotate anti-clockwise
W - Recenter camera
Z - Change your perspective and join the Ride!
Boid Controls
(for the more interventionist kind of gods out there...)
A - Activate a Boid and send it on a path of destruction!
S - Boid self-destruct...because sometimes the Ride is just too heavy!
D - Deactivate a Boid and let it rejoin the Ride...
(If you have joined in then these controls affect the particular Boid you're following.)
